Dawson College located in downtown montreal offers the mechanical engineering technology program, the most respected english pre-engineering program in the province of Quebec. Unlike some of the neighboring colleges, this program is a full three years covering many engineering aspects along with a well in depth machine shop course.

All of the lower images are taken in the -2H labs.

This is the manual machine tools lab with twenty 14-40 YAM lathes and one hardinge lathe, five bridgeport type mills as well as one vintage model. In addition there is a variety of drill presses, band saws, grinders and turret lathes, making it a vary well equipped machine shop.

This is the CNC lab with one large lathe in the back and one mill to the left. Recently they have added a wirer EDM and 3D printer to this lab.

Welding lab with Oxy-Acetylene, TIG, MIG, spot resistance, plasma welding and cutting; and also heat treating ovens.

And finally there is the metrology lab, with an optical comparator, coordinate measuring machine and all the hand measuring tools that you will ever encounter in a shop environment.

This Program accepts high school graduates provided they have passed the 436 and 536, science and math. Tuition is free for canadian citizens with only $130 students fees per semester. I have almost completed my first semester here and I highly recommend this to anyone who has an interest in manufacturing or mechanical technology. My only complaint is that they don't allow us to operate any of the machines or preform any type of welding until second semester.
