I've started making a square four bolt compound mount for the G0602. I've got it cut square from 3/8th steel, bored the center hole with an HF Portland hole saw and bored the flange with a boring tool , all boring done on the lathe. I yet have to drill the holes in the mount and drill and thread the cross slide. Pix later.

OnlineI'm interested to see how this turns out. The two-bolt configuration of the G0602 is not nearly rigid enough. It looks like you'll be going from 2 to 6 bolts, right?
I also like that you'll still be able to use the graduations on the compound.
Once you get all the kinks worked out please post your final dimensions.

OfflineHere are some pix of the completed project. Tyler here are the dimensions. It is made from 3/8th in steel. Cut 4.75 square, centered and drilled for chucking in the lathe. Then I used a hole saw to cut the smaller hole with the HF Portland hole saw. I then bored out the center hole to 2.8285. Next I bored the flange? to 3.350 and then cut the front end to match the front of the cross slide. Then I drilled the four corner holes .500 in from each corner. I drilled and tapped the cross slide for 5/16th coarse bolts. Hope this helps.

OfflineBob,
I am really glad to see this thread. I came across a webpage that shows what happens if the chuck impacts the compound slide. The cross slide collapsed. I want to reference the website, but I need to know if it's ok with the moderators/rules. You guys please hit me, because I don't know all the rules and etiquette since I don't post messages very often.
