I've spent the day in the shed having a go at making a ball turner, from a bit of steel that I had. its 58mm across by 40mm in height, the central groove is 10m square.

I haven't finished yet, will hopefully do more tomorrow.

One of the clearance holes is a bit wonky, mainly due to no planning.

Thanks Sammy

I've spent some time in the shed today finishing this off (to a workable stage).

The toolholder is made from 10mm key steel, and is joined in a T shape via a dovetail and screw. The holder is then held in place by two screws.

I have made a makeshift handle from 10mm mystery steel that was in the scraps box. All in all I'm very very pleased with it, In the next week or so, I might modify it to remove the high spot on the left hand side of the toolbit because it doesnt fit under the chuck, I also intend on making a better handle for it.

I might also shorten the keysteel down a bit, when I've worked out how much I can take off.

That's pretty cool, I didn't understand how your ball turner was going to work until you put up the last photo of it in use.

The up close of that bee is something! How would like to see something like that looking in your window that big? Honey! I think we need the rpg to take that thing out.

Hahaha, yeah the bee was just sitting on my living room floor, really docile, so i put it on some paper and took some pics. Then it decided to fly off.

If you were to print off that picture it would be poster size so thats a HUGE bee.

Nice job Gareth!

I edited your two posts so that they contain the actual images (instead of links to them). Is the server still giving you problems uploading images directly to the site or did we get it sorted?

Thanks Tyler.

The server seems fine at the moment. I haven't had any problems.

Nice to see you back.

Yea, sorry. I've been offline for the last few weeks. Work+Classes has been killing me, and I've had trips the last few weekends so I haven't even had time to get online on the weekend like I normally do. I did get to go walleye fishing tho …

I've got about 8 weeks left of work M-F 8-5, and then class M-Th 5:30-10pm. Luckily I live 2 miles from the college I'm attending so I can run home, change, and get to class usually on time.

But having something to do/somewhere to be from 8am to 10pm is really starting to wear on me. Needless to say I go straight to bed after I get home. I haven't even had time to keep up on my email messages, and they are on my iPhone!

It will be better once this semester is over … I hope Yell

Tyler, what is it that you are studying at the college, you have said that you work in the medical field so wouldn't that give you a good pay check. Any way If you were wondering what I was doing,  I was taking chemistry for a year at john abbott college but now I'm switching to dawson an entirely different program, no prizes guessing what Im taking this fall.
