Thanks Blame,

it took a few days, and I think I've scratched a bald spot into my head, but I got there in the end.

Gareth,

Great job and a very unique look.  I like it.

How did you go about making it?

Thanks Titaniumboy

So the clamp plate, I made myself, I decided to make a new one, so that I still had the original if things went wrong, the Cam receiver was made from some steel hex stock which is tapped M8, and cross drilled  7.5mm to accommodate the cam.

The clamp bolt is made from steel, and is threaded M8 on both ends, to attach it to the receiver and the clamp plate.

Finally the cam was made by offsetting a bar of steel in the chuck.

Very nice work Gareth. The handle looks like a piece of art. How did you turn it? Did you use a ball turner?

Thanks Sammy

Yeah I used the ball tuner that I made last week to make the handle, I'm just in the process of making a handle for the ball turner, then anything else that "needs" a handle.

To make the handle, I drilled and tapped a bit of stock, then mounted it onto an arbour, then made it into a handle, then took it off the arbour and screwed it on.

This camlock has really made it much easier to use the lathe.

I really reccommend it as a project.

Nice Gareth! Did you follow anyone else's design or make your own? Do you have any links that you can provide for others who might like to make one?

If it's your own design, would you like to draw it up and do a writeup for the site? I'd like to put it on the home page.

I had a look on various websites, but I couldn't quite get my head round how they did it, so I did it my way and designed as I went.

I looked here

http://www.gadgetbuilder.com/C…..mLock.html

http://www.rulezman.com/worksh…..tockcl.htm

http://www.mini-lathe.com/Mini…..amlock.htm

http://www.toolmod.com/latheme…..-tailstock

As my lathe is out of action for a little while (blown controller) I will have to get all these write-ups done. I'm so bad at getting into gear with homework, I was like that at school too haha.
