I introduced myself a couple of days ago. I was told you like pictures so here is my HF lathe and Mill Drill. I think I got a good deal on them. When I looked at them at the store. I had a coupon and asked if I could use it on the Mill/drill. He was the store manager and said he could do much better than that. He knocked 25% off each machine if I took them both. They were shipped to the store so I had no shipping charges.

Here is the mill. I added a DRO and power feed.

And here a couple of shots of the lathe.

I added the reverse tumbler. You can see the thumb screw to lock the tumbler to the left of the threading chart. Put a beefier plate on the cross-feed

.

I also changed the carriage lock and the lock on the tail stock. Those are the brass thingys.

I was having trouble cranking the head up on the mill from my wheelchair. No leverage. So I bored out old half inch drive socket. It's a slip fit on the shaft. Drilled and tapped for a set screw. I leave the ratchet wrench on and the setup is very easy to use. As you can tell I am a firm believer in KISS. (Keep it simple stupid) Yell

Have a good one.

Doug

Nice toys Cool

I really like the ratchet on the mill column.

It's great to see people adapting and overcoming disability, I look forward to seeing some of your work.

Rammed, I wondering about your mill dro. Could you tell about it, where you got it it's features and a ball park price?

I'm looking to maybe get one but I'm not sure I want to plunk down the $600.00 to $900.00 on the prices I've seen. I'd be happy with one the is coolant proof, chip proof, and able to zero the thing where ever I want. I watched the Dropros videos and I'm a little over whelmed also glass scales vs the other scales, I don't know much about any of them.

I'd prefer a 120 volt set up with memory if the power happens to go off. More photos of the DRO would be great too.

Thanks

Norman

Firstly, welcome to this site!!

I have a mill/drill similar to yours except it has a dove tail setup.  With your shaft setup, do you have trouble lowering the main head and keeping the endmill in the same spot?  With this I mean does it move slightly to the left or right when you you are lowering it?  Is there  a bit of a twist with the main head?  I was told of this problem when I was deciding to buy a mill.

Here is my mill/drill setup at home.

As you can see this is a dove tail setup.  I do not have any miss-aligning of the endmill when lowering the main head.

Norman

The place I got mine went out of business right after my unit was delivered. Didn't make me very happy.Frown

I did a search and this was  the cheapest I found. Looks like a nice unit.

Yes it moves when I raise or lower the head.  I have an indicator set just to square it back up. I usually don't have to move the head as the quill has enough travel for the type of projects I do.
