I am a semi-retired mechanical designer, looking for a machinist who can make the occassional single part from time to time for me as I create the bits and pieces of various prototypes for a few of my free-lance customers as required.  Often these will be the parts of a 'proof of concept' set-up and not anything like a production level device.  Most parts will either be aluminum or Plexiglas or Delrin, with more attention to concentricity and fit then appearances in most instances.   None will be large or complex, and most will be lathe projects.

Hi Trike,

I created a new forum section called RFQ (Request for Quote) and moved your post there. I've had a few others who have asked for an RFQ section so I figured it was about time that I make a spot for such requests.

I would make two suggestions. First, edit your post or profile so people will know where you're from. If you're in the US and someone in Australia wanted to respond to your message, they might think twice if they knew where you lived (because of shipping hassles).

Second, I would suggest removing your e-mail from the post. Automated email spiders crawl the web looking for email addresses like yours so they can send you spam. Masking it by changing the @ to "at" doesn't even work anymore. So I'd suggest asking interested parties to send you a PM instead (private message) which can't be seen by anyone but you and the other party.

And finally, depending on how frequently you'd need work done and the complexity/tolernaces needed, I might be interested. I work full time so I wouldn't have time for several projects a month. But I might be up for the occasional project. That's assuming that you're in the USA …

Anyway, welcome to the forum and thanks for kicking off the RFQ section of the site!

NOTE: I work full time and I'm attending college full time as well. So if it takes me a few days to respond, please don't take it personally. If it's urgent please send me a Private Message.
  • REMEMBER: You need to subscribe to your posts so that you'll receive an e-mail update when a member replies. You can also set your profile up so that you're auto-subscribed to all your posts. To set up Auto-Subscribe go to Profile > Personal Options > Auto-Subscribe to Posts.
  • If you are having trouble posting pictures, be sure to visit the FAQ section of the forum for instructions.
  • If you are having trouble viewing the forum posts, consider trying a different browser like Firefox or Chrome.
