ive got some 1/2" tools that sit too high on the qctp so im looking for someone that can mill a couple or few tool holders to take off some of the bottom portion so they will sit lower.

I don't think you're going to be able to mill down lathe tools if they are made from HSS.  They will need to be ground.

I had to grind some lathe tools from 5/8" square tool stock, and found I couldn't get the tool low enough to be on center in the Hardinge.  I knocked the height down from 5/8" down to just over 1/2" in just minutes in a rotary grinder we have at the school machine shop.

100th post !!

not wanting the actual toolholder that holds the bit milled down. i am wanting the piece that holds the tool and goes on the qctp milled. the slot that the tool goes in i would like to have the bottom part milled a little so that when you put the tool in it will sit lower.

If you don't mind shipping them I would fix your tool holders to your specifications.  You could probably get 4 BXA toolholders in a small flat rate box.

thanks for the offer. since i decided to do the CNC though i figured it best to just scrap the compound to make it more rigid, so i am having the guy who is making my kit make a replacement block that will mount to the stock location on the cross slide, it will also be .3" shorter so it will fix my problem with the tools sitting too high. however if i decide to go with some 5/8" tools ill definitely take you up on your offer =D

Well, if you ever change your mind and want some simple milling done the offer still stands.  Are you converting your lathe to cnc operation?  If so will you still be able to operate it manually?

I will lose manual control however it becomes much easier because I can just move with the arrow keys. So instead of turning a knob it will now just be hitting a key. Plus of course the automated running of a program which is the best part

When you get it running be sure to post some pictures.  This sounds pretty interesting.
