This only (that I'm aware of) works with a Quick Change Tool Holder but I have had good success with leaving the holder loose and letting the knurls float finding their own center. It has produced good quality uniform knurls without the bother of trying to get the double roller bump knurls dead centered manually.

Note: knurls still need to be set square with the work.

Just a tip that works for me. Laugh

I have never heard of using knurl with the holder loose, but thats something I have to try. The method that I have been told to use is to place a rod in the lathe and to slowly advance the two knurls with the motor running, if they are perfectly centered then they will begin to turn simultaneously with the tips just skimming the surface.
